Soup Nazi

Anybody need a little salt for their wounds? Too Bad! Now that The General pulled off her little holiday miracle (Merry Christmas, and you're fired) she has also mandated that the leftover supplies (paper plates, forks, spoons, napkins, etc.) should be thrown away too. That's right folks, doing anything nice for your employees is a sign of weakness. All hail the The General!

And now a public service announcement from the Blind Drivers Association; As a member of a bargaining unit each of you have the Right to request union representation in any closed door meeting with management. If management refuses to allow you to exercise this right you are still required to meet with them, but you should report this violation immediately. One violation has occurred already. I wonder how many more it will take before The Team stops acting like tyrants.

Happy New Year!!

Wolf guy, I'm not clear on this. Union representation is a right that we request? Shouldn't we demand, or at least insist on it?

If The Man doesn't comply, we still have to meet with them? Sounds like they can say, "No, you don't get representation this time. Sit down, or else."

Is that the way I read this?

It's kinda like taxes...
The IRS request that we voluntarily choose an amount to be withheld from our paychecks (by picking a number on the W-2 form) and also requests that we voluntarily submit a set of forms after the end of the year stating our income and our tax liability (or credit). We could choose to ignore the IRS's request - but they would enforce their requests with penalties, interest, levies against future paychecks, etc.
In this example, the Union is the IRS. The Union has requested (in the form of a vote; 56-18 yes) that the employees be treated in a certain manner. The company can ignore these requests - but the Union will begin enforcing them with calls to management, letters to the corporate offices, and eventually (if the problems are big enough) lawsuits filed through the National Labor Relations Board.
The short answer is, yes they can say sit down or else - but whatever action they take will shortly be reviewed (and likely overturned) if you have the courage to report the violation. So stand beside your brothers and take strength in numbers.
