Wally World

I figured out why Wally has been able to take over the world!
Once upon a time... wait. No long, drawn out, over thought stories. OK, when an economy is all small, family-owned business' they only hire employee's they really need. And the owner pays a good wage to make sure that employee is loyal, committed, etc.
Now enter Wally World - someone from outside the "old" economy invests in a building and inventory, but wants to keep costs super low. They decide to keep payroll costs down by hiring people who are willing to work part-time. High school kids, 2nd income workers, desperate single parents, etc. are targeted to be employees and now we don't have to pay as much. Other business must now cut costs, and cutting payroll worked so well for the other guy...
And now, thanks to the low wages we all get paid, the only place we can afford to shop is Wally World - because their crap costs less than any body else's, because they pay employees minimum wage, and their employees have to shop for the cheapest crap... you see the vicious circle now?
I really have to find a way to get ahead of this mess. I think I'll get a second job... "Welcome to Wally's World! Cheap foreign crap on aisle 6, but please check your conscience with the customer service desk first."

ACORN is working on raising the minimum wage and improving conditions for workers, including mandating paid sick days. We also have an anti-Wal-Mart campaign. Check it out at:

www.acorn.org and www.sickdays.acorn.org.

Hey, with the drop out rates in school increasing we have to have someplace to try and put them. I think the real problem is education. If we could achieve the other american dream, coming up with a briliant idea (I.E. e-bay, google, microsoft, etc..) and marketing it, and working for yourself. We stay in the boat of incompetence only because we don't know how to get out, without being eaten be the sharks. I.E. education. Even Wal-mart has to compete in it's local job market. Just raise the education level and raise the know how and worth per hour of the induvidual.
